For help using Bricks, questions about this policy, or any request about your data, write to application@alnajmalsyaar.com. We read every message and usually reply within one business day.
What we collect
- Email address — used to sign you in. There are no passwords; a code sent to your email confirms it's you.
- Name and username — the name and handle you choose when you set up your account, so other people on the app can recognize you.
- Profile photo — if you choose to add one.
- Project, asset and financial data — anything you or people you work with enter into the app: project names, budgets, costs, tax records, investment amounts, rental income, operating costs, tenants and lease dates.
- Photos and documents — receipts, invoices and evidence you attach to a cost, an income record or an investment; progress photos of work on site; and cover photos you add to a project or asset.
- Messages — anything you write in a project or asset discussion.
- Contacts you add — details of tradespeople and suppliers you add to your Helpers list: name, company, phone number, specialty, location, notes and an optional photo.
We do not ask for a phone number, and we don't collect location data, your device contacts, or anything else from your device beyond what you actively enter into the app.
Why we collect it
To run the app. Your email address authenticates you. Your name and username let people know who they're dealing with. Project, asset and financial data is the actual purpose of the app — tracking budgets, spending, income and who owns what. Receipts and documents exist so investors can verify the money involved is accounted for. Progress photos record how work advanced. Helpers exist so you can find a tradesperson's number without hunting for it.
Who can see what
Bricks is built around a simple rule: you see what you're involved in, and nothing else.
- The owner of a project or asset can see everything about it — costs, income, progress, tax records, who has invested, and how much.
- Someone invited to control a project or asset can add costs, record income and update progress, but cannot change ownership, invite others, or delete anything.
- An investor who has put money into a project can see that project's costs and their own investment records, including their own receipts. They can see a count of other people's receipts, but not the files themselves.
- Anyone with access to a project or asset can see its discussion and its progress photos.
- Anyone with no connection to a project or asset — no ownership, no stake, no invitation — cannot see it exists.
Other people using Bricks
You can search for other people by name and send them a connection request. They choose whether to accept. Someone only appears in your People list once they have accepted, and you only appear in theirs.
Before you are connected, other people can find your name, username and profile photo through search. Nothing about your projects, assets or money is visible to them.
You can choose, in Settings, whether people you are connected to can see your total invested amount and your portfolio breakdown. This is off by default. Turning it on shares those figures; leaving it off keeps them private, though owners of projects you have invested in still see what you invested in their own projects. Your rating stays visible either way, and because it is calculated from your total in fixed bands, it indicates roughly what range you fall into even when the exact figures are hidden.
We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers. We have none.
About people in your Helpers list
Helper entries describe tradespeople and suppliers who are usually not users of this app and who did not enter their own details.
Helpers are private by default — only you can see them. You may choose to share an entry, which makes its name, company and phone number visible to everyone using Bricks. If you do, you are responsible for having a reasonable basis to share those details — normally that you have worked with them and they are contactable in a professional capacity.
If you are listed in a shared Helpers entry and would like it removed, write to application@alnajmalsyaar.com and we will remove it.
Third parties
We use Resend to deliver the sign-in codes sent to your email, and notifications about invitations. This means your email address is shared with Resend solely to send you those messages. Resend does not receive any of your financial or project data.
We use MinIO, storage we run and control ourselves, to hold the photos and documents you upload. Your files are not shared with any third party.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored on a server we operate. It is not distributed to other companies' cloud platforms beyond the email delivery described above.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. What happens next depends on whether other people's records depend on yours:
- If nothing depends on your account, it is deleted completely — your email address, name, username and profile photo are removed and cannot be recovered.
- If you own a project or asset that someone else has invested real money into, or if someone else's investment records name you, your personal details are removed, but the financial records themselves stay — because that money and that history belong to the other people involved, not just to you, and erasing it would affect them too.
- Shared Helpers entries you added stay in the shared list, shown as added by a removed user. Private ones are deleted with your account, since nobody else could see them.
Either way, once you delete your account, you're signed out everywhere and cannot sign back in with it.
Liability
Bricks is a tool for recording and tracking project, asset and investment information that you and the people you work with enter yourselves. We don't verify the accuracy of what's entered, we don't vet or endorse anyone in a Helpers list, and we're not a party to any investment, agreement, tenancy or transaction tracked in the app. Bricks does not process payments or hold funds. Tax figures shown in the app are a record of what you have entered and are not tax advice. Decisions made based on information in Bricks are the responsibility of the people making them.
